John C. Allen, M.D.
Dr. John Allen completed his B.S. in Chemistry with specialization in Biochemistry at the University of Virginia, graduating with Distinction. He subsequently obtained his medical degree from Wake Forest University school of Medicine. While in medical school he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honors society. He also was awarded multiple honors for his international work in Guatemala, Ghana, and Gabon. Dr. Allen completed his intern year as well as his residency in ophthalmology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He continued his subspecialty fellowship training in glaucoma at Emory University.
Dr. Allen specializes in modern techniques of cataract surgery and glaucoma surgery. He is highly trained in Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgical techniques (MIGS), trabeculectomy, tube shunt implantation, and glaucoma laser therapies. He is a skilled cataract surgeon and experienced with premium lens options for correction of astigmatism and presbyopia for patients who are candidates.
Dr. Allen is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, and the American Glaucoma Society.
